Staples Notary Services
Staples offers notary services at select locations across the United States. All notary services are performed by a licensed professional notary public. Services vary by location, but may include document witnessing, affidavit swearing, and certificate attesting.
What is a notary?
A Notary Public is a person who has been appointed and commissioned by the state to serve the public as an impartial witness in taking acknowledgments, administering oaths, and performing other acts authorized by law.
Notaries are mandated by state law and their primary function is to deter fraud. They serve an important role in many transactions including loan closings, real estate transactions, vehicle sales, and authentication of documents.
While some states allow Notaries to perform a wider range of duties, in general, they are restricted to three basic functions:
-Attesting or certifying signatures on documents
-Taking acknowledgments of signatures on documents
-Administering oaths or affirmations
